Privacy policy
This is the same policy shown inside the PDF Wallah app. It is public, needs no login, and covers version 1 of com.iamtac.pdfwallah.
Your documents stay on your device
Every scan, edit, conversion and password is handled on the phone. Nothing you open is uploaded.
Back to contentsWhat we collect
Nothing on our side. No account, no sign-in, no analytics.
The only stored information is what the user types:
- Name and email on the profile screen
- Chosen save folder
- Dark mode preference
- Recent activity list
All of it sits in the app’s private storage on the device and is never transmitted. Clearing app data or uninstalling removes it completely.
The app does show ads and the ad network processes data of its own — see the Advertising section.
Back to contentsFiles and permissions
Documents save to Documents/PDF Wallah or a folder the user picks.
- Android 9 and older ask for storage permission only to write that folder.
- Android 10 and newer need no storage permission.
- Choosing a file grants access to that single file; the app cannot browse the rest of storage.
- Declining permission keeps documents in a private app folder.
When the app uses the network
Documents are never uploaded. Two things reach the internet:
- The Upcoming Apps list — a small public JSON file plus icons, carrying no personal data and no device identifier.
- The ad network.
Everything else works with no connection at all.
Back to contentsAdvertising
The app is free and paid for by ads served through Google AdMob. There are two placements:
- A banner above the navigation bar on the main screens.
- A full-screen ad before a file is saved.
Nothing about the user’s documents reaches the ad network: no file names, no contents, no page counts, no file totals.
Google does process its own data to select and measure ads, which may include the device advertising ID, approximate location derived from IP address and similar signals, governed by Google’s own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.
The advertising ID can be reset or deleted in Android Settings, under Privacy then Ads.
The full-screen ad is always optional — declining it still saves the file.
Back to contentsCamera and scanning
Scanning uses the Google ML Kit Document Scanner, entirely on device. Camera frames are processed locally and not sent to a server. The app itself never requests camera permission directly.
Back to contentsOpen source components
PdfBox-Android — a port of Apache PDFBox, Apache License 2.0 — handles PDF reading, writing, text extraction, password protection and compression.
The interface uses AndroidX and Jetpack Compose, also Apache License 2.0.
Scanning uses Google ML Kit.
Back to contentsPasswords
The password encrypts the file and is then discarded. It is not saved, not stored in preferences, and cannot be recovered by anyone. A forgotten password means the file cannot be opened.
Keep an unprotected copy of anything important.
Children and data requests
The app is not directed at children and collects nothing itself.
Questions or data requests go to support@iamtac.com.
Back to contentsNote about this website
This section covers pdfwallah.iamtac.com, not the app. The sections above are the app policy and match what the app shows.
This site is static: no cookies are set, no analytics or tracking scripts run, and no forms collect anything. The footer shows the IP address your request arrived from, purely so you can see it. It is read from the request, sent straight back to your browser, and not written to any log or database by us. Your hosting provider and network operator keep their own standard server records, as they do for every website.
Your light or dark mode choice is kept in your browser’s local storage on your own device and is never sent anywhere.
